“The Three Births of Wadih Alwani” is a monodrama written and read by Mahmoud Nowara and translated by Julia Gettle.
Mahmoud Nowara is a Palestinian journalist and creative writer born and raised in Damascus. He spent twelve years writing for news outlets across the Arab world, while also publishing creative pieces in numerous local journals. After the eruption of the Syrian conflict, Nowara fled to Beirut, where he composed the original Arabic version of this monodrama. He spent a year in France before relocating to the United States to begin a fellowship with the Department of English at Harvard University, where he is still based.
